The War of Chaos (340 years before the Holy Calendar - Before Light's Shattering)

Sapphire, the Star of Sapphires, was a vibrant continent where humans, elves, orcs, dragons, and other races thrived and prospered together.

However, to strengthen the power of the Abyss, the Dark King secretly spread plagues and contaminated almost all dragon eggs in the Windward Highlands. He then informed the dragons that the World Tree within the human territory could purify the plague, enticing the dragons to wage war against humanity. Under the leadership of the Black Dragon King Ulysses, dragons invaded the central continent of Sapphire from the Windward Highlands, coercing the indigenous race of orcs to join their side with the threat of "immortality or destruction." The two largest human kingdoms, Freeman and Palmer, formed the human alliance to resist the dragon invasion. The elves, who had always been friendly to humans, joined the human alliance under the leadership of the Elven King Harlington at that time.

With five great kingdoms, four major races, and two major factions, the War of Chaos began. In the early stages of the war, the dragon faction held absolute dominance, pushing the human coalition south to the Wrath of God Rift. For some unknown reason, the cunning Dark King revealed the location of a powerful artifact capable of changing the course of the war—the "Crown of Immortality"—to Freeman the First. In his prime, Freeman the First and the King of Palmer decided to lead an elite squad to find the Crown of Immortality. Inside the Hall of Heroes, King Palmer sensed the evil aura of the Crown of Immortality and advised Freeman the First to abandon the quest. However, Freeman the First, drawn by the immense power, remained undeterred and insisted on wearing the Crown of Immortality. The potent darkness surged into Freeman's body, rendering him unconscious. When he awoke, he found that the entire expedition, including King Palmer, had died by his own sword.

Returning with the Crown of Immortality, Freeman the First claimed that the treasure hunters had been ambushed by the dragons. He forged a false testament and assumed the regency of the Palmer Kingdom. In a tense situation, faced with the newly empowered King Freeman, Odin, the second-in-command of the Palmer Kingdom, reluctantly acknowledged the legitimacy of the testament. Empowered by the Crown of Immortality, Freeman the First began the counteroffensive, gradually reclaiming the lost territories from the dragons and orcs, bringing them back under human control.

being corroded by the Crown of Immortality. He gradually became brutal, bloodthirsty, and indifferent, with his desire for victory and territory surpassing everything else. The mad Freeman showcased his power by slaughtering prisoners and refugees, and even some outstanding subordinates were executed for minor mistakes.

Young Prince Lucas noticed his father's transformation early on, but his numerous attempts to persuade him were in vain. It wasn't until his sister, Hela—the most outstanding mage in human history—cut off ties with their father and left for the Starry City in anger, that Lucas realized his father was beyond redemption.

Facing the human counterattack, the Black Dragon King Ulysses began to sow discord between humans and the elven allies. He dispatched a covert team disguised as humans to attack the elven sacred site, the Moon Temple, seizing a large amount of military resources and delivering them to the human army. The bribed frontline commanders dismissed the inquiries of elven officers, and Freeman the First's arrogant attitude at the negotiation table embarrassed the elven envoys. King Harlington of the elves saw through Freeman the First's untrustworthiness, and in response to the timely olive branch extended by the dragons, he led his army to retreat from the western front.

On the other hand, the spirit of the deceased Palmer King revealed everything that happened in the Hall of Heroes to Odin, the Heart of the Mountains, in his dreams. Furious, the general immediately declared the withdrawal of Palmer's forces from the human coalition and retreated from the eastern front.

Driven by his delusions of grandeur, Freeman the First declared war on the elven kingdom and the Palmer Kingdom, leading the central army to engage the eastern and western armies in the "War of Quelling Rebellion" on the Plains of Lamentation. Lucas realized that his irrational father had put the entire continent in jeopardy. As Freeman the First once again won the war and ordered the execution of all prisoners, Lucas, unable to bear it any longer, thrust a long sword from behind, pinning his father to the ground. Before the tyrant could react, another sword struck his intangible head. The crown fell to the ground, a piercing scream echoed through the sky, eventually weakening into cries of remorse that dispersed with the wind. The Dark King fell from power. These two swords would later be known as the "Regicide Sword" and the "Patricide Sword."

After the Battle of the Plains of Lamentation, the Elven and Palmer Kingdoms rejoined the alliance. Prince Lucas assumed the role of supreme commander and sought help from the Chief Mage of the Magic City, Ji Xing, to find a way to deal with the Crown of Immortality. After months of contemplation, the Grand Mage found an ancient and dangerous solution—the Temporal Prison. He used fragments of the Underworld King's soul in the Crown of Immortality to forge the "Boundary King Covenant"—once crossing into the Underworld, the time of the Underworld King would forever freeze on the day of crossing, repeating endlessly without a tomorrow. Thus, an unprecedented crisis was quietly resolved, leaving the Underworld King full of anger but temporarily powerless, forced to bide his time.

Old Freeman, in death, harbored no resentment toward his son's actions. On the contrary, at the moment the crown fell to the ground, he saw countless spirits reproaching him, overwhelming him with intense self-blame. He forever removed the crown and picked up the runic sword "Emperor's Doom" that had been with him all along, embarking on a journey as the "Dark King."

Lucas—Freeman II—soon faced the punishment of decapitation by the rebels. The charges of "regicide" and "patricide" condemned his soul to eternal wandering in the mortal realm, becoming the "Headless Knight."

Upon learning of her father and brother's deaths, Hela, heartbroken, withered away in magic and was warmly welcomed by the Underworld King upon her death. However, she staunchly refused the invitation to become the Chief Necromancer of the Underworld, only requesting to become the Ferryman of the River Styx, hoping to one day welcome the souls of her loved ones home.

The War of Chaos lasted for nearly a decade, ending with the narrow victory of the human alliance, heavy losses for all factions, and the Underworld King being banished to the Underworld.

Although humanity emerged as the relative victor of the war, it paid a heavy price—Palmer Kingdom was destroyed, Freeman Kingdom underwent a major regime change, and the Chief Mage of the Magic City was swept into the currents of time.

The orcs were scattered into multiple tribes, no longer able to pose a significant threat. The elves, who wavered during the war, faced repercussions afterward and were driven out of their homeland. The dragons split into two factions, Silver Dragons and Black Dragons. The former, represented by the Silver Dragon Princess, formed the "Silver Dragon Knights" and joined the human alliance, while the latter fled to the Abyss of Sin, laying the groundwork for a series of subsequent events.

The Decline of the Elves (340 years before the Holy Calendar)

Due to their wavering allegiance between humans and dragons during the war, the Elven race was designated as a target for eradication during post-war purges and subsequently expelled from their lands, embarking on a sorrowful journey of wandering. To divert attention and maintain their own rule, the Elven king (the old king) proposed the "New World Plan," portraying the orcs as a vile and inferior race. Leading armies and civilians, they marched into orc territories, either enslaving or expelling the orcs to establish a new Elven kingdom.

After three years of war, the fragmented orc tribes were systematically defeated, either slaughtered or driven away. The remaining orcs became slaves of the Elven race, constructing countless Elven cities, temples, and shrines on their own land, enduring over 60 years of enslavement.

Under the bloody rule of the Elves, the once scattered Orcs began to unite in secret. The strongest tribe, the Bone Eaters, led by their queen, struck a dark deal with the Abyss Tyrant, contaminating the waterways of the remaining orc tribes with the blood of a Hydra. The infected orcs were transformed into berserkers—strong, aggressive, bloodthirsty, and brutal, obeying only commands.

With the beating of war drums, the orc legions launched a full-scale counterattack against the Elves. Almost overnight, the proud Elven race was crushed, with nearly all of its members slaughtered. Only a handful of Elven nobles managed to escape and seek refuge in the shelter of human kingdoms.

Thus began the decline of Elven civilization.

The Abyssal Invasion (235 years before the Holy Calendar)

After the Chaos War, the human alliance repelled the dragon coalition and thwarted the conspiracy of the Underworld King. However, due to the assassination of the king of the Palmer Kingdom, the assassination of the successor king Lucas of the Freeman Kingdom, and the death of Princess Haila, the question of the attribution of the victory has been debated. As a result, a new interim regime was established: Lucas's cousin, the leader of the conciliatory faction, Ward Freeman, was appointed regent; the former Palmer Kingdom general, Odin, became the chancellor, with equal status to the regent; and the former supreme commander of the alliance, Hercules, became the prime minister. This new regime, centered around the new capital of the unyielding King City, was called the "Unyielding Dynasty" and managed the human territories, the sanctuary of surviving elves, and nominally controlled the occupied areas of the orc tribe.

However, even though the impact of the war had not fully subsided, the entire continent was still in a slow recovery phase when a disaster, long planned, descended upon it

blob.png

The Abyssal Tyrant led a massive Abyssal army surging out of the Abyss of Sin in the eastern part of the continent, launching a fierce attack on the human world. Simultaneously, under the control of the Abyssal Tyrant, the orc army led by the Queen of Erosion Bone invaded from the west, while the Dragon Breath Legion led by the Black Dragon Ulysses invaded from the north. These three major armies, collectively known as the Abyssal Alliance, plunged humanity, which had just regained a moment of respite, back into the flames of war.

Faced with the mighty Abyssal Alliance, humans, who had just begun to recover from the war, retreated steadily, making their last stand at the Unyielding King City.

Sealing of the World Tree (232 years before the Holy Calendar)

The arrival of the Goddess Tribe brought a ray of hope to the continent of Sapphire. This powerful race from the distant "Star of Grace" injected new vitality into the Human Alliance, and the sacred artifact of the Goddess Tribe, the "Sword of Grace," gained widespread renown in battles. After three years of warfare, the Human Alliance reversed the tide of the war, and the Abyssal Alliance crumbled in the face of this sudden and formidable force.

Following the defeat of the Abyssal Alliance, the disposition of the three Demon Lords—Queen of Erosion Bone, King of the Black Dragon, and the Abyssal Tyrant—along with the settlement of the Goddess Tribe, became the first two challenges that needed to be addressed. This was until the leader of the Goddess Tribe, Bernice, caught sight of the colossal World Tree standing on the horizon.

blob.png

The World Tree was originally a massive ancient tree on the continent, which had been approaching death after enduring numerous wars. Bernice merged the spark of life from the Star of Grace—the source of all things—into the World Tree and bestowed upon it the highest blessing for protection. The towering dead tree immediately burst forth with renewed vitality. Its lush branches and leaves obscured the sky, while its enormous roots delved deep into the ground, securely trapping the three Demon Lords. It continuously siphoned off their power, weakening them to prevent their escape from the seal. Simultaneously, it purified these evil energies, transforming them into life force, nourishing the recovery of the entire continent. It also became an endless source of magical power for the Goddess Tribe.

Following the Abyssal Invasion, humans became the rulers of the continent, while other races were further marginalized. The entire continent was unified under the "Empire of Grace," divided into multiple territories governed by lords. However, in reality, due to the immense power and charisma of the Goddess Tribe, they were revered as deities by the inhabitants of the continent, surpassing all earthly rulers. The "Supreme Realm," constructed over decades, became the residence of the highest echelons of the Goddess Tribe, and their leader, Bernice, was elevated as the "Supreme Goddess."

The Super God Plan (225 years before the Holy Calendar)

The arrival of the Goddess Tribe brought about a tremendous turning point in the war, and the extraordinary power possessed by the goddesses also aroused strong curiosity among humans. As early as the arrival of the Goddess Tribe, a "Super God Plan" authorized by Prime Minister Hercules of the human kingdoms had already begun implementation. The entire plan was led by Loki, the third Grand Master of the Astrological City, with the aim of enhancing human abilities by replicating the genes of the Goddess Tribe. Of course, the entire plan was conducted in secret. However, the research faced numerous difficulties, and with the deadline approaching, the desperate Grand Master decided to take a desperate gamble.

The final experiment took place in a secret location in the Astrological City, with only Grand Master Loki, his female assistant Ella, and Prime Minister Hercules as supervisors. When a cylinder made of transparent crystal and black iron slowly rose from the ground, Ella and the Prime Minister were stunned—trapped inside the apparatus named the Pillar of Starfall was a severely injured member of the Goddess Tribe. Loki explained that replicating the genes was not feasible with existing scientific knowledge, but extracting elements directly from the body of a member of the Goddess Tribe was achievable—albeit at the cost of a living member of the tribe. The Goddess trapped in the crystal pillar had been lured by Loki under the pretext of aiding in the fight against the Abyssal Coalition.

Faced with moral dilemmas of revenge and betrayal, and the tempting prospect of godlike power within reach, Prime Minister Hercules chose the latter with a single thought, tacitly approving the experiment. However, Ella, the female assistant, could not condone such despicable acts. After futile arguments, she secretly informed the Captain of the Royal Guard, and also her lover, Quake, hoping that he would arrive in time to stop this sinful experiment.

blob.png

The Royal Guards were still mobilizing when Quek stormed into the laboratory alone. However, the extraction accelerator had already been activated, and amidst the dazzling light, the goddess member emitted a piercing scream. Quek quickly grappled with Loki, and in an attempt to distance himself from the situation, Prime Minister Hercules quietly withdrew from the laboratory. Tragedy struck as the struggle between the two triggered the unstable explosion of the experimental device, causing a chain reaction of the supercore fusion within the goddess member's body. A strange shockwave rapidly spread, engulfing the entire Astrological City in the twisted space, drifting amidst the shattered void.

From the survivors of the shockwave, profound transformations occurred. Influenced by the supercore fusion, Grand Master Loki became the Lightning Phantom and was later imprisoned by the goddess clan. Assistant Ella became the Flame Phantom, while Guard Captain Quek became the Starhunter. Although they gained near-eternal life, they could never touch each other's bodies. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Hercules, despite his mid-experiment departure, underwent physical and physiological changes due to radiation. Condemned by the king and the goddess clan, he lamented his irreversible mistake. Eventually, he was punished to be forever bound to the heavy Pillar of Falling Stars, becoming the Earthshaker guarding the fractured void, beginning a long journey of atonement.

Dark Lord (170 years before the Holy Calendar)

Under the governance of the Supreme Goddess, internal unrest and disputes within the empire gradually subsided, ushering the entire continent into a prosperous golden age. However, beneath the surface prosperity, hidden currents were stirring. After the chaotic wars and the Abyssal Invasion, countless undying souls emerged on the continent of Saint Fael, catalyzed by humanity's dark thoughts of hatred and greed, giving rise to an evil and powerful dark entity - the Chaos Fiend. Exploiting humanity's covetous desire for the sacred artifact, the Sword of Sanctity, the Chaos Fiend launched a rebellion that swept across the entire empire.

To preserve the hard-won peace, the Supreme Goddess Bernice led the warriors of the Goddess Clan to declare war against the Chaos Fiend alongside the imperial army. Eventually, the Chaos Fiend, along with the Goddess of all Gods, Bernice, were drawn into the vortex of the "Eye of Annihilation."

blob.png

After the Chaos of the Fiend, the Fate Goddess succeeded the position of "Supreme Goddess" in accordance with the last will of the Supreme Goddess Bernice. The highly acclaimed successor, the Goddess of Light, left the realm of the gods in indignation.

Wandering the lands of humanity, the Goddess of Light encountered her lifelong love - an ordinary human man. This relationship sparked great dissatisfaction among a unique group within the Goddess Clan known as the "Celestials."

The Celestials were a special group within the Goddess Clan, highly intelligent, and leading the development of the technological civilization of the Goddess Clan. However, due to several serious incidents in the history of the Star of Sanctity, where offspring born of unions between female members of the Goddess Clan and other races went out of control and caused massive disasters upon reaching adulthood, "maintaining the absolute purity of bloodlines" became a consensus among the Goddess Clan, regardless of gender. It even became the highest law, guaranteed by the authority of successive leaders of the Goddess Clan. The "SEED Control Committee," led by the Celestials, was also established and wielded great power. Even if the leader of the Goddess Clan violated the laws, they would be severely punished by the committee. As a founding principle of the Goddess Clan, the committee system continued to be established on the continent of Saint Fael.

Unable to let go of her sister, the Fate Goddess had already seen the fate of the two of them in the wheel of time. Additionally, under the pressure from the Chairman of the Control Committee, Adolf Annabul, she found the Goddess of Light hoping she would abandon this ominous affair. Faced with the sudden appearance of her sister, the Goddess of Light's anger towards the Supreme Goddess surged again. She ignored her sister's so-called prophecy and, unwilling to give up her love affair, was ready to fight to defend it, leaving the Fate Goddess with no choice but to leave.

Months later, the lover of the Goddess of Light was cursed with an evil curse, and his soul fell into the abyss amidst endless wailing. Faced with her lover's state of neither living nor dying, the Goddess of Light lost her last bit of reason. Darkness began to consume her soul, and shadows corrupted her wings. The former goddess finally fell into what she hated most - a monster. From then on, the Goddess of Light was no more, replaced by the Dark Lord.

The sealing battle lasted a full seven days and nights. The rampaging Dark Lord not only underwent drastic changes in form but also temporarily lost consciousness completely, leaving only a thirst for slaughter. With several goddesses joining forces, the Dark Lord, devoid of reason, was eventually captured in a strategic maneuver.

After this bloody battle, the entire Supreme Realm was almost razed to the ground. The Control Committee publicly claimed that an experiment's energy leakage caused a massive explosion. After dealing with several scapegoats, the truth of this battle was permanently concealed, existing only in the highest classified documents.

The Birth of the Bloodline (150 Years Before Holy Calendar)

The term "Celestials" refers specifically to males within the Goddess Clan. They lack divine power but possess exceptionally high intelligence, aiding in the development of technological civilization within the Goddess Clan. The Celestial leader, Adolf, has always believed, through records in some ancient inscriptions, that during the initial birth of the Goddess Clan, Celestials possessed both extraordinary divine power and exceptional intelligence. Thus, he devoted his life's energy to the "Ancestral Plan," aimed at transforming Celestial physiology to regain divine power equivalent to that of Goddess Clan females.

Unfortunately, agents of the Dark Council infiltrated the research team and prematurely released the seal on the Dark Lord during the experiment! Adolf, who unwittingly caused this catastrophe, hurried to correct his mistake and used an incomplete version of the "Ancestral Potion" on himself, gaining increased strength, speed, and vision in a short time! Ecstatic, Adolf immediately administered the Ancestral Potion extensively to his people, intending to assemble a powerful elite force of Celestials to defeat the Dark Lord and seal him once again.

However, after a period of time, the dreadful side effects of the potion began to manifest—those injected with the potion went berserk, attacking others madly, with only blood able to restore their sanity. The Supreme Council dispatched the Goddess of Blood to investigate, and with the help of the Lightning Wraith, Loki, they developed the "Origin-Cease Serum" to quell the unrest.

Thus, the "Bloodline" was born.

The Split Among the Goddess Clan (20 Years Before Holy Calendar)

With the outbreak of the "Dark Lord" incident, the mode of interaction between the Goddess Clan and humans began to stir significant controversy.

Represented by the Dawn Goddess, one faction believed that the indigenous races were mostly blind and ignorant, and should be ruled by elite members of the Goddess Clan with broader vision and knowledge, implementing a stricter hierarchical management system to prevent further turmoil. On the other hand, represented by the Fate Goddess, another faction believed that it was precisely the excessive intervention of the Goddess Clan in continental affairs that led to people's resentment. They advocated humility, allowing humans to govern themselves, with the Goddesses serving as advisors.

At this juncture, the Black Dragon Prince, Duan, and the Guardian Goddess's sister, Joanna, gave birth to the Dragon Goddess, Talisa. However, serious divisions arose within the Supreme Council regarding how to deal with this mother and daughter—The Dawn Goddess faction insisted on capital punishment according to the charter; the Fate Goddess, embroiled in the aftermath of the Dark Lord incident, felt compassion and advocated leniency; the Guardian Goddess, always prioritizing the bigger picture, chose to remain silent. With the Dawn Goddess faction prevailing, the Order Goddess issued a guilty verdict against Joanna and her daughter, with the death penalty scheduled to be executed in three days at the Holy Judgment Hall.

A team composed of Tianchan Guardians, Moon Priestesses, and Arrogant Blades, friends of the Black Dragon Prince, stormed the Supreme Domain on the day of execution, vowing to rescue Joanna and her daughter. With authorization from the Order Goddess, the Dawn Goddess led the Sun Goddess and Blizzard Goddess to capture the intruders, gradually surrounding them. The Fate Goddess, with the thought of "I have already missed once and cannot afford to miss again," finally made a decision and led the War Goddess Hilia to join the rescue mission. From then on, the Dawn Goddess's Guardians, the Fate Goddess's Divine Guards, the Neutral Forces dispatched by the Guardian Goddess, and a daring mixed rescue team engaged in an unprecedented melee within the Supreme Domain.

In the execution ground within the Judgment Hall, the seemingly mortal rescue team unleashed astonishing power, engaging in a fierce battle against the powerful Dawn Goddess. Eventually, the Tianchan Guardians merged with the power of the True Dragon Seal, surpassing even their master, the Tianchan Immortal, while the Moon Priestess, in a desperate moment, evoked the response of the ancestral spirits of the Elf Clan with selfless belief. Together, they repelled the Dawn Goddess. Upon the Guardian Goddess's instruction, the Frost Goddess made a spectacular entrance, freezing the entire Supreme Domain in a blizzard, allowing the rescue team and Joanna and her daughter to escape.

Battle of the Nine Armies (20 Years Before Holy Calendar)

Following the "Judgment Hall Incident," the Dawn Goddess, Guardian Goddess, and Fate Goddess underwent a complete rupture, leading to the fragmentation of the Holy Empire. The three Goddesses, along with their followers, each seized territory on the continent, forming three major factions.

With the new powers established, the entire continent seemed calm on the surface, but beneath lay brewing turmoil, on the brink of eruption.

At this juncture, on the continent of Saint Fael, the Holy Knights, Silver Moon Knights, Silver Dragon Knights, Holy See, SEED Control Committee, Blood Clan, Frost Emperor Clan, Guardians Alliance, and Blood Lion Tribe, nine major powers, each harboring their ambitions, banners flying high, engaged in relentless disputes over the ownership of the Goddess Clan's sacred artifact, the Sword of Saint En. The three major factions immediately plunged into endless warfare.

Goddess Federation (Year 1 of the Holy Calendar)

The "Battle of the Nine Armies" raged for twenty years, yet there emerged no true victor. Instead, three nations were established around the Dawn Goddess, Guardian Goddess, and Fate Goddess: the Dawn Goddess founded the Storm Kingdom in the north, the Fate Goddess established the Divine Kingdom in the southwest, and the Guardian Goddess erected the Treasure Kingdom in the central region.

Each of the three major kingdoms remained independent, with a newly established Supreme Council to mediate. The three kingdoms were required to unconditionally obey the commands of the Supreme Council, collectively known as the "Goddess Federation."

Regarding the ownership of the "Sword of Saint En," the Supreme Council enlisted craftsmen from the Snow Country to divide it into three parts, named the Eye of the Firmament, the Wing of Sanctuary, and the Grasp of Dominion, to be safeguarded respectively by the Treasure Kingdom, the Divine Kingdom, and the Storm Kingdom.
